Sports and music can bring people together. Read what Yasmine and John Stephen have to say. Yasmine from Sydney
Yasmine from Sydney: If there's one thing I really, really love, it's football. Not Australian football, that's
[?] (violent) for me, but European football, soccer. I think it's
[?] (exciting) game in the whole world. I don't know anything quite
[?] (exciting) getting together with my mates for a good kickabout. I'm
[?] (good) player in my team, and
[?] (fast) runner. The sad thing is that my team is
[?] (good) to play on a national level, but we're certainly
[?] (good) to become the champions of the Sydney area this year. And we're definitely
[?] (good) than that team from Park Hill High. We're a really international team, too: My folks are from Kuwait originally, we've got Greeks, Irish, Chinese... It makes it even
[?] (interesting) when we have an after-match get-together, with everyone bringing
[?] (weird) foodstuffs from the old country.
To win this year, we have to train
[?] (hard) and be
[?] (competitive) ever. But that's OK: It means I can spend more time on the pitch.
John Stephen from Liverpool
John Stephen from Liverpool: It sounds like a joke, coming from a Liverpool lad, but I really hate football. I think it's
[?] (boring) game in the world. I just can't understand why my friends get
[?] (excited) they do about kicking a ball about. Of course I've tried it myself, but I'm
[?] (bad) player there is. I think that must be because I am just
[?] . (interested) Also, I am
[?] (slow) a runner. If I played any
[?] (bad) I do, I'd get a place in the
Guinness Book of Records . There are just
so many things that are
[?] (nice) playing football -why should you spend it on something
[?] (stupid) running around on a pitch kicking a ball? I'd much
[?] (...) spend time with my band mates, playing punk rock. Some people here look at me in a funny way when I talk about punk rock. But why should it be any
[?] (weird) that a black kid is into punk than that so many whirte ones are into hip hop?
My brother thinks I'm
[?] (strange) boy he knows. But I think that he is much
[?] (strange) me: he wants to become a football pro with Liverpool FC, and he couldn't care less about music.
